Located in the heart of Lexington Park, across from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Lexington Park Dentistry provides comprehensive care to the community. From the friendly greeting when you walk through our door to the state-of-the-art-technology throughout our office, your experience with us will be like no other.
Your First Visit
The first visit to our office will give you the opportunity to meet the doctors and our team. A comprehensive exam will be completed which typically includes photographs and a series of X-rays that allow the doctor to evaluate your health of your teeth and gums.
The initial visit also involves getting your medical history. There are no forms to print out on our website because when you arrive, we will complete your paperwork together in a private consultation area. When you share your medical history, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Inform the doctor if you have experienced recent hospitalization or surgery, or if you have recently been ill. Also, tell us the names, doses, and frequency of any medications you are taking, whether prescription or over-the-counter products, and the name of your physician. Inform the doctor of any changes in your health or medications. This information will help the doctor select the safest and most effective method of treatment for you.
We want our patients to be educated about their dental health - that's why we take the time to review our findings with you after the initial exam. We want you to make informed decisions about your dental health and for you to decide what is best for you!
Together, we will come up with a plan to make sure you have the healthy and beautiful smile you've always wanted.
Regular Checkups
We encourage regular checkups for individuals age three and up. Most people find that it is valuable to have a checkup at least every six months so we can:
- Check for problems that you might not see or feel
- Find early signs of decay
- Perform a screening test for oral cancer
- Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable
Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, the doctor checks the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. At each visit, the doctor also checks old fillings and restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.
Regular checkup appointments typically take 30 to 60 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
